Do We Take Emergencies?

Like many things in life, the answer to this is not as easy as yes or no.

Current Clients

Our goal is to be here for our patients and clients in their time of need, and the majority of the time we are able to work in your sick patient.
But unfortunately, it is not always possible.

Situations where we may need to refer you to an urgent or emergency hospital include:

  1. Our doctors are in surgery and cannot step away from the patient in front of them or are fully booked with no wiggle room. When possible, we will work in clients with urgent needs — we do it almost every day!
  2. Your patient would be better served by seeing a specialist.
  3. Your patient is in need of 24-hour care and monitoring. Unfortunately, we do not have the staff to accommodate this.

Non Clients

For non-clients with true emergencies, the answer is no — we do not see emergencies. Dayton has two 24-hour pet emergency rooms and several urgent cares. We leave non-client emergencies to these professionals.

If your pet is sick and needs to be seen urgently but not necessarily immediately, give us a call. We can help assess whether we can see your pet soon enough for its current condition. We typically do not have same-day appointments available in this situation.

We will also determine whether we are the best place for the illness or injury your pet is dealing with, or if a specialist or 24-hour care facility might be better for your pet’s current medical needs.

If we are unable to help you, we are fortunate in Dayton to have two 24-hour emergency veterinary hospitals. They can be reached at:
